Symptoms:
- Loss of condition
- Losing weight
- Green, slimy droppings
- Limping (cripple) or flying awkwardly
- Swollen joints in wings and legs
- Infertile eggs
- Twisted necks
- Blindness in one eye
- Death
It is a condition caused by Salmonella typhiumurium var. Copenhagen.
A disease that is difficult to eradicate. The bacterium is able to survive in lofts for a long time. This is because the germs can stay alive for a long time in the loft, but also because some of the pigeons can be carrier hosts without clinical symptoms. These are often pigeons that do not appear to be affected, but at certain intervals secretes this bacterium. Mainly in stressful times.
